Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has promised to deport Haitians from Springfield, Ohio, Reuters reports. The former White House chief’s threat came after he made a statement about immigrants eating the pets of local Americans.
“We will carry out large-scale deportations in Springfield, Ohio ,” Trump announced at a news conference at his golf resort near Los Angeles.
According to the agency, there are about 15,000 Haitians living in Springfield. City officials have confirmed that most of them are there legally. Law enforcement officials have also not confirmed Trump’s information about violence against domestic animals.
