Game of the Week
Our Football Friday Night game of the week will be a Class A District 7 matchup with Madrid at Earlham at 7 p.m. Both teams are 3-1.
The host Cardinals opened the season with wins against Southwest Valley (41-6) and IKM-Manning (40-18) before losing to ACGC (28-21). They won 41-12 at Central Decatur last week.
Earlham running back Caleb Smith is third in Class A with 623 rushing yards. He also has 8 touchdowns on the ground, including an 80-yarder.
The Tigers opened 3-0 with wins over Lynnville-Sully (21-0), Mount Ayr (28-6) and Martenstale-St. Marys (48-0) before a 29-28 loss last week against Woodward-Granger.
Madrid quarterback Preston Wicker is fifth in Class A with 576 yards rushing. He has 8 rushing touchdowns, along with 230 yards passing and 5 TDs in the air. Linebacker Will Atkinson leads Class A with 3 fumble recoveries.
Wild Card game
This week’s game will be a Class A District 6 matchup between Wayne (Corydon) and Lynnville-Sully at 7 p.m. We’ll send a crew to Sully for Football Friday Night coverage.
The host Hawks won their first two games before dropping their last two, including a 21-0 homecoming loss last Friday to Madrid. Wayne is 3-1, with wins in the last two weeks over Martensdale-St. Marys and Panorama.
